Black Rock / Riverside

The Black Rock-Riverside Planning Community is bordered by the Niagara River and Scajaquada Creek. The community’s waterfront location offers views of the Niagara River and Fort Erie, Ontario. Once an industrial corridor, the River today serves as an important regional recreational resource. The Riverwalk Trail links the community to Downtown and the Tonawandas; Riverside Park offers views of the water, and the shoreline features a mixture of marinas, restaurants, and residential uses. The Scajaquada Creek Trail connects the Riverwalk with Delaware Park, a historic Olmsted designation park.

The community has a strong industrial heritage, heavily influenced by the presence of the Erie Canal. Several large industrial complexes remain and industrial rail corridors continue to define the community’s residential areas.
