Pre-file bankruptcy counseling allows those considering bankruptcy the opportunity to meet with experienced counselors.  Counselors will guide you through the process of a bankruptcy and provide you with the necessary information you will need to understand.  The following is provided to participants in the pre-file counseling session:

• Assessment of Financial Situation
• Budget Analysis
• Education on Bankruptcy and its Consequences
• Alternatives to Bankruptcy
• Plan for Resolving Credit Problems
• Avoiding Future Financial Difficulty
• Proper Use of Credit
• Planning for Financial Recovery (after discharge)
• Certificate Required by the Bankruptcy Court is Issued

Before your bankruptcy is discharged (considered complete), participants are required to take a Financial Management/Debtor Education Course.  HomeFront, Inc. provides this course using the MoneySmart Curriculum.  The Money Smart Curriculum is divided into six modules:

• Bank On It
• Borrowing Basics
• Money Matters
• To Your Credit
• Charge It Right
• Loan to Own
